Zenki is a Japanese anime television series that premiered in 1995. The show is based on a manga series written by Kikuhide Tani and illustrated by Yoshihiro Kuroiwa, which was serialized in Monthly Shonen Jump between 1992 and 1996. The anime adaptation was produced by Studio Deen and consists of fifty-one episodes, with Enoki Films managing the English language version. The story centers on the character Chiaki Enno, a high school student who trains as a Shinto exorcist. In ancient times, the master mage Enno defeated the demon goddess Karuma by summoning a protector demon named Zenki, whom he subsequently sealed within a temple pillar. Over one thousand years later, Chiaki accidentally unleashes her family powers and summons Zenki once again after evil forces emerge in her vicinity. Zenki is depicted as a powerful Demon God characterized by his red eyes, black and red hair, and detailed armor. The series follows the events that unfold after this ancient protector is brought back into the modern world.
