Overview

The 2012 film Za centers on the relationship between two men, U Chet Phaung and U Phyar Gyi, who reside in neighboring villages with a history of conflict. Although the local head monk tasks the pair with the joint construction of a bridge connecting their communities, the project is hindered by their inability to agree on a singular building method. This professional disagreement escalates into personal animosity between the two men. Their rivalry intensifies following the arrival of Daw Ni Lar Lwin, a young teacher from the town who shares a daughter-like connection with both men. As U Chet Phaung and U Phyar Gyi begin competing for her romantic affection, the villagers become preoccupied with the question of which man she will ultimately choose.
