Yeditepe Istanbul is a television series released in the year 2001 that falls into the family and drama genres. The story begins when Olcay's husband commits suicide and leaves behind a massive debt. Because of this, Olcay and her teenage daughter, Duru, are forced to relocate to a slum in Istanbul. Now financially dependent on Olcay's only remaining friend, Olcay begins searching for employment. Lacking a degree or prior experience, she attempts to survive by working various odd jobs. As they adjust to their new surroundings, their neighbors, who come from a completely different background than the people in Olcay's former life, start to grow fond of the mother and daughter. In fact, some of the neighbors even fall in love with them.
