Overview
WWE Saturday Night's Main Event was a professional wrestling television series produced by the World Wrestling Federation, which aired on NBC from 1985 to 1991 and later on Fox. The show was formatted as a series of high-profile wrestling matches featuring established WWF stars competing against one another. It originally replaced Saturday Night Live in its time slot and became known for showcasing major bouts including championship matches. The program ran for multiple seasons through 1992, with a revival occurring years later from 2006 to 2008. The series featured iconic moments in wrestling history, including title defenses by top performers of the era such as Hulk Hogan. Episodes were structured around star-versus-star matchups during an era when weekly programming emphasized dominant headline talent over developmental storylines. The debut episode premiered in May 1985 and included a WWE Championship match between Hogan and "Cowboy" Bob Orton.
