The Czech television series "Vyprávěj" is a drama that follows the lives of its characters against the backdrop of real historical events. Set in Czechoslovakia, the series takes place in the second half of the 20th century and is told through the perspective of a narrator who provides continuity and reflection. To evoke period atmosphere, the series intersperses authentic clips from vintage Czechoslovak film newsreels, using their original commentaries or newly recorded historical voice-overs. The series was produced by Dramedy Productions, whose producers Filip Bobiňski and Petr Šizling created the series with screenwriter Rudolf Merkner. The plot explores the lives of a family, the Dvořákovs, through three generations, against the backdrop of significant historical events.
