Vikings is a historical drama television series created and written by Michael Hirst for the History channel. The series tells the sagas of Ragnar Lothbrok, described as a Viking warrior and farmer who yearns to explore, and the greatest hero of his age. The broader series transports viewers to a brutal and mysterious world, noting that most Vikings were farmers, fishermen, craftsmen, and traders who had their own laws, art, and architecture.
The television series originally ran from 2013 to 2020. A sequel series, titled Vikings Valhalla, later premiered on Netflix on February 25, 2022.
