Overview
Ugly Americans, released in 2010, is an animated comedy series that follows the everyday challenges of a supernatural‑infused metropolis. The show centers on social worker Mark Lilly, whose job is to assist newly arrived citizens—both ordinary humans and a variety of fantastical “others”—as they begin the process of adapting to life in the Big Apple. Lilly’s efforts are constantly complicated by the eclectic personalities of his coworkers. Among them is Twayne, a demonic bureaucrat whose bureaucratic methods often hinder rather than help. Leonard Powers, a wizard whose penchant for alcohol frequently interferes with his magical responsibilities, adds another layer of chaos. The law‑enforcement side of the office is overseen by the surly Frank Grimes, whose stern approach to public safety contrasts sharply with the city’s bizarre inhabitants. Grimes’s girlfriend, Callie, also plays a part in the workplace dynamics, further testing Lilly’s attempts to provide effective assistance. Together, this cast navigates the absurdities of a city where the ordinary and the extraordinary intersect, creating a comedic portrait of urban integration.
