Overview
Nisekoi, also known as Nisekoi: False Love, is a Japanese romantic comedy series based on the manga written and illustrated by Naoshi Komi. The story follows Raku Ichijo, an average high school student and the sole heir to the Shuei-gumi Yakuza family. Ten years prior to the events of the series, Raku made a secret promise to a girl he met to marry her upon their reunion, and he has kept the pendant she gave him ever since. In the series, Raku is forced into a relationship with the daughter of a rival gangster family head to prevent a gang war. Produced by the studio Shaft, the anime television series consists of a 20-episode first season that aired from January to May 2014 and a 12-episode second season titled Nisekoi: that aired from April to June 2015. Aniplex of America holds the license for streaming and home video distribution in North America, with the show available on platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+.
