Overview

The Selected One is a 2008 film centered on a planned terrorist act directed against the state of Azerbaijan and its head of state. The plot follows the activities of Armenian special bodies as they organize an assassination attempt. The international terrorist Zorik Babayan, known for leading ethnic cleansing operations against Azerbaijanis in Karabakh, is tasked by the Armenian state to carry out the attack. Despite various operative measures taken to stop him, Babayan succeeds in traveling to Baku to execute his mission. The situation is further complicated by a group of traitors working within the country who attempt to interfere with efforts to neutralize the threat. In response to the escalating danger, General Ali Talibov is officially assigned the responsibility of preventing the terrorist attack. The narrative focuses on the conflict between the state security forces and the operatives attempting to destabilize the nation through this targeted violence. The film documents the high-stakes pursuit as General Talibov works to protect the head of state from the impending threat.
