Overview
The film "The Pirates" is set at the cusp of the founding of the Joseon Dynasty. An envoy from China is tasked with delivering Emperor Ming's Royal Seal, but their mission is disrupted by a natural event. A whale swallows the royal seal, prompting a reward to be offered for its recovery. A group of mountain bandits and a group of pirates are among those competing to retrieve the lost treasure from the whale's belly. The two groups, led by Jang Sa Jung and Yeo Wol respectively, engage in a pursuit to claim the treasure.
