Overview

The Devil Bat is a 1940 black and white American horror film produced by Producers Releasing Corporation and directed by Jean Yarborough. The film stars Bela Lugosi alongside Suzanne Kaaren, Guy Usher, Yolande Mallott, and the comic team of Dave O'Brien and Donald Kerr. The story follows Dr. Paul Carruthers, who becomes frustrated because he believes his employers, Mary Heath and Henry Morton, have cheated him out of the company profits. Seeking revenge, he alters bats to grow twice their normal size and trains them to attack people when they smell a specific perfume he created. He then mixes this perfume into a lotion and offers it as a gift to Mary and Henry. When they turn up dead, a newspaper reporter decides to investigate the mysterious deaths.
