The Clone is a Brazilian television series that explores the ethical and emotional complexities of human cloning within a cross-cultural romance. The story centers on Lucas, a young man who falls in love with Jade during a trip to Morocco, a relationship complicated by their different cultural and religious backgrounds. After returning to Brazil following the death of his twin brother Diogo, Lucas is unknowingly cloned by Albieri, a scientist and close family friend who uses cells taken from him. Twenty years later, Lucas, Jade, and the clone find themselves entangled in a complex love triangle. The series was created by Glória Perez and features a cast including Murilo Benício, Giovanna Antonelli, Vera Fischer, and Reginaldo Faria. It originally aired between 2001 and 2002. The show combines themes of science, faith, and forbidden love, set against the backdrop of advancing biotechnology and differing worldviews.
