Overview

The Apothecary Diaries is a television series that premiered in 2023. Created by Natsu Hyuga, the show follows the story of a young maiden who lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father before being kidnapped and sold into servitude at the emperor's palace. An apothecary is a historical medical professional who formulates and dispenses medicine to patients, surgeons, and physicians, serving as the equivalent of a modern pharmacist. Although she is intended for a compliant life as a lowly servant, the protagonist refuses to remain passive. When imperial heirs fall ill, she chooses to intervene and utilize her pharmacist skills to find a cure. Her actions attract the attention of Jinshi, a handsome palace official and head eunuch, who promotes her. With his assistance, she begins to make a name for herself by secretly unraveling various medical mysteries within the inner court. The series features voice performances from Aoi Yuki, Emi Lo, Takeo Otsuka, and Kaiji Tang.
