Overview

The Amanda Show is an American live action sketch comedy and variety show that aired on the Nickelodeon network. The program premiered on October 16, 1999, and concluded its run on September 21, 2002. It served as a spin-off from the series All That, a program in which lead performer Amanda Bynes had co-starred for several years. The main cast featured Amanda Bynes, Drake Bell, and Nancy Sullivan. Throughout its production, the show included several other performing artists who joined and left the cast at different points, including John Kassir, Raquel Lee, and Josh Peck. The writing team for the series consisted of John Hoberg, Steven Molaro, Andrew Hill Newman, and Dan Schneider. According to a blog post written by creator Dan Schneider, the series was unexpectedly cancelled at the end of 2002. The show remains a notable example of the variety format within the Nickelodeon programming history during the late 1990s and early 2000s, building upon the established comedic presence of its lead star.
