Overview

Tarzan's New York Adventure is an action and adventure film released in the United States on May first, nineteen forty-two, with a runtime of one hour and eleven minutes, or one hour and ten minutes depending on the source. The film was directed by Richard Thorpe and produced by MGM as the final Tarzan film made by the studio featuring Johnny Weissmuller and Johnny Sheffield as Boy. In the story's plot, a circus owner named Buck Rand kidnaps Boy in order to have him perform in his show. Buck Rand forces a pilot to fly himself, Boy, and his animal trainer out of the jungle, prompting Tarzan and Jane to follow them to New York. Following this production, Maureen O'Sullivan departed from her role as Jane, and MGM transferred Weissmuller and Sheffield as a package to RKO, where they continued to appear in their respective roles in subsequent Tarzan films.
