Overview

Tai Chi Zero is a 2012 3D martial arts film directed by Stephen Fung. This Hong Kong-Chinese co-production serves as a fictitious account regarding the history of the Chen style of tai chi, which was traditionally practiced exclusively within the Chen family of Chenjiagou. The story is set in the legendary Chen Village, where every resident is a master of the martial art, incorporating powerful Chen Style Tai Chi into their daily lives. The plot follows a character named Lu Chan, who travels to the village seeking to learn these techniques. However, the villagers are strictly forbidden from teaching the style to outsiders. To discourage Lu Chan from his goal, the villagers challenge him to a series of fights, with everyone from strong men to young children defeating him using their tai chi skills. The situation changes when a man from the village's past returns, bringing a frightening steam-powered machine and threatening to build a railroad through the village at any cost, forcing the residents to reconsider their stance on training outsiders.
