John Winchester, Sam, and Dean face off against these vampires in order to obtain the gun. The vampires are a supernatural threat that the Winchester family is familiar with.
The Winchester family's experience with the paranormal is rooted in their childhood, when their mother was killed by a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. Their father, John, has since taught them how to kill supernatural evil that exists in the dark corners and on the back roads of America.
