The story follows a young lady named Hilda, who works as a servant for wealthy sheep farmers named the Clarksons and dreams of becoming a great singer. An upcoming visit by a famous composer from London named Sir Julian prompts the interfering and jealous Mrs. Clarkson, who falsely believes she can sing, to send Hilda away to prevent Sir Julian from hearing her good voice.
