Overview

Stargate SG-1 is a television series that premiered in 1997. The narrative begins approximately one year after the events of the 1994 feature film directed by Roland Emmerich. The plot follows the United States government as it discovers that an ancient alien device known as the Stargate, which was originally found in Egypt, provides access to a network of similar devices located on various planets across the galaxy. To explore these worlds and defend Earth from various extraterrestrial threats, the military establishes SG-1, an elite Air Force special operations team. This group serves as one of more than two dozen teams tasked with missions through the gate. Throughout their travels, the team encounters and defends against adversaries including the Goa'uld, the Replicators, and the Ori. The franchise has since expanded to include various media, such as a trading card game and planned video games, while maintaining a dedicated following that tracks the history and ongoing legacy of the series and its related productions.
