Synopsis
Having been transported to the Fortress of Solitude, Clark is confronted by Jor-El, who tells him he cannot return to Smallville, instead he must stay and prepare to save the planet. Also, transported to the Fortress, Chloe is unable to handle the sub-zero temperature and collapses, begging Clark to use his powers to save her. Jor-El forbids him to leave, but finally acquiesces, telling Clark he must return before sunset or there will be dire consequences. Meanwhile, Lana is horrified when she sees two Kryptonian aliens emerge from a spaceship discovered in the remnants of the meteor shower. The two aliens destroy what's left of the town searching for Kal-El.

In the television series Smallville, the episode titled Arrival begins with Clark being transported to the Fortress of Solitude. Once there, Clark is confronted by Jor-El, who informs him that he cannot return to Smallville and must instead stay behind to prepare to save the planet. Chloe is also transported to the Fortress, but she is unable to handle the sub-zero temperatures and collapses. She begs Clark to use his powers to save her. Although Jor-El initially forbids Clark from leaving, he finally acquiesces with a warning, telling Clark that he must return before sunset or face dire consequences.
Meanwhile, back in Smallville, a spaceship is discovered in the remnants of the meteor shower. Lana is left horrified when she watches two Kryptonian aliens emerge from the craft. The two aliens proceed to destroy what is left of the town as they search for Kal-El.
