The television series Smallville, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, follows the origins of the world's greatest hero, the Krypton refugee Kal-El. In the thirteenth episode of the second season, titled Suspect, Lionel is shot in the manor. Following the shooting, Jonathan becomes the prime suspect. The show, which originally premiered in 2001, blends science fiction, fantasy, action, adventure, and drama. The fictional town of Smallville was previously changed by a meteor shower, altering the lives of many of its residents, including Lex, the son of the wealthy and ruthless Lionel Luthor.
