Small Wonder is a television series that centers on the domestic life of the Lawson family following the arrival of a unique new member. Ted Lawson, a genius cybernetics engineer, brings home a top-secret invention known as a Voice Input Child Identicant, or V.I.C.I. The family must work together to hide the true nature of the robot by passing her off as a real child to their neighbors, which includes Ted’s boss and a nosy family living next door. For Joan Lawson, the task is simple as she quickly begins to dote on the robot as if she were her own daughter. However, the situation proves more complicated for their son, Jamie. The precocious boy frequently utilizes the robot to complete his school assignments and to avoid interactions with Harriet, an annoying redheaded girl who lives next door. As the family navigates these challenges, their daily existence becomes anything but mechanical while they maintain the secret of their technological addition to the household.
