Overview

The film is set in a violent, near-apocalyptic Detroit. A corporation, Omni Consumer Products, wins a contract from the city government to privatize the police force. As part of this contract, the corporation tests their crime-eradicating cyborgs by leading a street cop into an armed confrontation with a crime lord. The corporation uses the crime lord's body to support their untested RoboCop prototype. The cyborg, later referred to as RoboCop, learns of the company's plans and turns on his masters.
