Overview

Richelieu is a 2023 Canadian drama film directed by Pier-Philippe Chevigny. The film, which is also known by the titles Dissidente in France and Temporaries in some other territories, was produced by Le Foyer Films in coproduction with TS Productions and JPL Films. The story follows a woman named Ariane, played by Ariane Castellanos, who moves home following a breakup and secures a position as a French-to-Spanish interpreter at a food processing plant. The facility employs seasonal migrant workers from Guatemala. Initially, Ariane is determined to follow the directives issued by her young boss, portrayed by Marc-André Grondin. However, after witnessing workplace abuses and the exploitation of the seasonal laborers, she befriends the workers and attempts to defend them. As she observes these conditions, Ariane must decide how far she is willing to go to speak out against the mistreatment. The cast also includes Nelson Coronado and Eve Duranceau. The film has a runtime of one hour and twenty-nine minutes.
