Overview

Re-Main is a Japanese anime television series that aired in 2021. The show follows Minato Kiyoumizu, a boy who returns to water polo after a hiatus caused by an incident during his third middle school year. Upon entering high school, he joins a new team that faces numerous challenges. The series was animated by MAPPA and directed by Kiyoshi Matsuda, with Masafumi Nishida serving as writer. It aired on TV Asahi's NUMAnimation programming block. The title refers to the act of restarting or returning to something, as suggested by the prefix "re" in English. The show explores themes of recovery, teamwork, and personal growth as Minato attempts to rebuild his connection to the sport he once played. During his absence, he suffered a serious accident that resulted in a prolonged hospitalization and memory loss. His journey back to the pool becomes central to the narrative. The series features voice performances by Alicyn Packard, David Matranga, Caleb Yen, and Daisuke Motohashi, among others.
