The film serves as a bookend to the director’s previous work, The King’s Choice, which focused on the initial days of the German invasion of Norway in 1940. Starring Gard B. Eidsvold, the narrative follows the final days of Vidkun Quisling before his execution in October 1945. Following the end of the five-year German occupation on 8 May 1945, the story centers on Quisling held in a dark cell at Akershus Fortress. As the nation begins the process of rebuilding, Quisling faces accountability for his actions and the atrocities associated with Nazi ideology. The film explores his psychological state while he is in prison for treason and examines whether a priest can help him find peace of mind. The production premiered at the Norwegian International Film Festival on 18 August 2024 and features a cast that includes Anders Danielsen Lie, Arthur Hakalahti, and Lisa Loven Kongsli.
