Created by Joshua Brand and John Falsey, the show features actors Rob Morrow, Janine Turner, Barry Corbin, and John Cullum. The plot follows a recent Columbia University medical school graduate who, after receiving a scholarship from the state, is required to set up his practice in a remote Alaskan town. Upon arriving in the town of Cicely, the city doctor must adjust to life in a new environment while encountering a variety of peculiar local residents. Among these individuals is a former astronaut.
