Synopsis
A young Marine is killed in Iraq, but he was investigated by police for a murder on a young girl in his hometown. While going through his personal belongings, they find the body of that girl. The local police believe that the corpsman murdered the girl, but Gibbs believes that he is innocent and he will try to prove it with a help of Faith Coleman.

In the episode titled Hometown Hero, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service team investigates the death of a young Marine who was killed in Iraq. Prior to his death, the Marine had been under investigation by local police regarding the murder of a young girl in his hometown. During the processing of the Marine's personal belongings, the team discovers the body of the girl. While the local police department maintains the belief that the corpsman was responsible for the murder, Gibbs suspects that the Marine is innocent. To resolve the case and prove the Marine's innocence, Gibbs seeks the assistance of Faith Coleman. The investigation centers on reconciling the evidence found among the Marine's possessions with the accusations made by local law enforcement.
