In the twentieth episode of the second season of NCIS, titled Red Cell, the investigative team is called to a school campus following the murder of a Marine. As the agents begin their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death, they identify a potential suspect. However, the investigation takes a turn when the team discovers that this suspect has also been murdered.

As the case progresses, Tim and Abby analyze electronic evidence and uncover a trace leading to a Red Cell within the victim's emails. Based on this discovery, the team develops a theory that the deceased Marine may have been involved in a serious game.
