S1·E18 The Puppeteer

In this episode, Marinette Dupain‑Cheng is asked to look after a young child named Man on while her parents are away. The setting is the familiar Parisian neighbourhood where Marinette and her classmate Adrien Agreste live, two teenagers who have been entrusted with the powers of the Miraculous. When the need arises, Marinette becomes the superhero Ladybug and Adrien becomes Cat Noir, a partnership that defends the city from supernatural threats.

During the babysitting session, Man on discovers a collection of dolls that represent Ladybug, Cat Noir and several of the series’ more notorious villains. While playing with the figurines, the child’s imagination draws the attention of the series’ antagonist, the akumatized spirit known as an akuma. The akuma attaches itself to Man on, transforming the child into a new villain called the Puppeteer. The Puppeteer’s abilities are linked to the dolls, allowing her to manipulate them in a way that mirrors the powers of the heroes and the villains she has modeled.

As the Puppeteer begins to cause mischief, the disturbance draws the attention of Ladybug and Cat Noir. The heroes must intervene to protect the city and to safeguard Man on from the influence of the akuma. The episode follows the typical pattern of the series: the Miraculous holders discover the akumatized threat, transform into their superhero identities, confront the villain, and work to reverse the akuma’s effect. The confrontation involves the heroes confronting the Puppeteer’s doll‑based attacks and ultimately freeing Man on from the akuma’s control.

The narrative also highlights Marinette’s sense of responsibility, both as a caretaker and as Ladybug, showing how she balances ordinary duties with the extraordinary demands of protecting Paris. By the episode’s conclusion, the akuma is defeated, Man on returns to normal, and the day ends with the reassurance that the city remains safe under the vigilant watch of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
