S1·E13 The Mime

When the episode opens, the focus turns to a local theater where Mylène’s father is rehearsing for an upcoming production. A rival understudy maneuvers to claim the role that had been promised to him, leaving the older actor humiliated and desperate. In the wake of this loss, a dark emotion takes hold and an akuma—sent by the series’ primary antagonist—possesses him. The transformation turns the disgraced performer into the Mime, a new villain whose supernatural ability is to make any pantomime he performs manifest in reality.

The Mime’s first act is a silent, exaggerated gesture that instantly creates a tangible obstacle in the streets of Paris, turning an ordinary sidewalk into an impassable barrier. News of the bizarre phenomenon spreads quickly, drawing the attention of Marinette Dupain‑Cheng and Adrien Agreste, the city’s secret protectors known as Ladybug and Cat Noir. As the duo investigates, they discover that the source of the chaos is linked to the theater and to Mylène’s father, whose disappointment has been amplified by the akuma’s influence.

Ladybug and Cat Noir confront the Mime in the theater’s backstage area, where his pantomimes become increasingly elaborate. Each silent motion summons a new, uncontrolled element—a wall of invisible bricks, a sudden gust of wind, a cascade of objects that threaten bystanders. The heroes must anticipate the Mime’s next invisible cue and counteract it using their own Miraculous powers. Ladybug employs her Lucky Charm to devise a solution that neutralizes the manifested effects, while Cat Noir uses his agility to keep the Mime’s gestures from completing fully.

Through coordinated effort, the pair manage to isolate the akuma’s influence and restore the Mime to his human form. The akuma is then captured, and the theater’s production resumes with the original casting restored. The episode concludes with Marinette and Adrien reflecting on how personal disappointment can be twisted into danger when amplified by the series’ villainous force, underscoring the recurring theme that emotions, when left unchecked, can have city‑wide consequences.
