Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an American television series created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen for ABC. The show, which ran from 2013 to 2020, is based on the Marvel Comics organization known as the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division. This peacekeeping and spy agency operates within a world of superheroes. The series follows Agent Phil Coulson as he assembles a team of agents to investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, with the goal of protecting ordinary people from extraordinary threats. The cast features Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, and Elizabeth Henstridge. Directed in part by Kevin Tancharoen, the series was the first television installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
