Maattrraan 2012

Overview

Maattrraan is a 2012 action and thriller film released in India on October 12, 2012, with a running time of two hours and forty-eight minutes. The film was directed by Anand K.V. and stars Surya Sivakumar, also known as Suriya, in a dual role as conjoined twins. The cast also features Kajal Agarwal, Sachin Khedekar, Tharatap Thewsomboon, and Ravi Prakash in pivotal roles alongside an ensemble supporting cast.

The story follows Akhilan and Vimalan, who are the conjoined twins of genetic scientist Ramachandran. Ramachandran's company makes Energion, a dietary supplement that promises to make geniuses out of children. Their lives are turned topsy-turvy when Russian journalist Volga tells them that there is something fishy about Energion and is mysteriously found dead.

During the production of the film, a part of the srostle dvojce, or conjoined twin's body, was manufactured using chemicals and silicon imported from the United States. This artificial body part was broken three times during filming, with approximately two million INR spent solely for that purpose.
