Kyo Kara Maoh! is a Japanese animated television series that originally aired between 2004 and 2009. Based on a series of light novels written by Tomo Takabayashi and illustrated by Temari Matsumoto, the show follows the life of Yuri Shibuya. Yuri is an average fifteen-year-old Japanese high school student who enjoys playing baseball. His life changes abruptly when he attempts to rescue a former classmate from a group of hoodlums. The confrontation turns against him, and he is dragged into a bathroom where his face is pushed into a toilet. When the toilet is flushed, Yuri is transported to an entirely different world. Upon his arrival, he is taken to a castle and crowned as the King of the Demon World. The narrative explores his experiences in this new land, focusing on whether he will ultimately become the leader of the realm, surrounded by his handsome lieges, or if he will find a way to return to his home. The series encompasses the genres of animation, action, adventure, comedy, and fantasy.
