Overview

Kooky is a 2010 Czech action comedy film directed by Jan Svěrák that combines live action with puppet and stop motion animation techniques. The story centers on a young boy named Ondra who suffers from asthma. Because of his condition, his parents discard his favorite toy, a musty old stuffed bear named Kooky. Following this event, Ondra experiences a dream in which the bear attempts to find his way home after being left at a dump. Within the boy's fantasy, Kooky becomes lost in a forest inhabited by various strange animals and remarkable beings that were previously unknown to him while he resided on a toy shelf. As the narrative unfolds, the bear encounters both good and evil forces. To successfully return home and prove himself a hero, Kooky must confront these challenges within his imaginary world. The film, which is also known by the Czech title Kuky se vrací, is classified under the family, adventure, and animation genres and has a runtime of one hour and thirty-five minutes.
