Overview

Kiteretsu Daihyakka is a Japanese animated television series that originally premiered on March 27, 1988. The show is based on a manga series by Fujiko F. Fujio, which was published in the magazine Kodomo no Hikari between 1974 and 1977. The story follows the life of Eiichi Kite, an eleven-year-old boy and scientific genius who is a descendant of a great inventor named D. Kiteretsu. Using an encyclopedia left by his ancestor, Eiichi creates various gadgets and inventions. He is accompanied by a companion robot he built named Korosuke. Together with his friends, Eiichi frequently travels in time using a time machine of his own construction. His social circle includes a neighborhood girl named Miyoko, a rival named Tongari, and a neighborhood bully known as Buta Gorilla, who often antagonizes Korosuke. The series explores the chaos and lessons resulting from the inventions created by the young protagonist. The program aired on Fuji TV and featured voice performances by actors including Mami Koyama, Chieko Honda, Naoki Tatsuta, and Toshiko Fujita.
