The story takes place in the Fourland Kingdom, an island nation in the North Atlantic. The country is home to 52 X-Playing Cards, which serve as the origin of playing cards. These cards possess unique supernatural abilities that can be granted to qualified individuals known as players.
When the X-Playing Cards kept in government custody are scattered across the Fourland Kingdom, they cause widespread trouble as players use their supernatural abilities throughout the country.
