Gungrave is a Japanese anime television series created by Yasuhiro Nightow that is based on the video game of the same name. Produced by Madhouse, the series aired on TV Tokyo between 2003 and 2004 for a total of 26 episodes. The narrative follows two men, Brandon Heat and Harry MacDowell, as they rise through the ranks of the Millennion crime syndicate. Initially, Brandon is a passive man living a laid-back life until the murder of his friends leads him to join the mafia to remain close to the woman he loves, Maria. Years later, Brandon returns from beyond the grave to dismantle Millennion, which utilizes undead monsters as enforcers. Driven by a need for revenge, he uses his handguns and a coffin filled with heavy weaponry to target the organization.
