George of the Jungle is an American animated television series produced by Jay Ward and Bill Scott, who also created The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. The title character was inspired by the legend of Tarzan. The program originally ran for 17 episodes on Saturday mornings from September 9 to December 30, 1967, on the ABC network, and was later distributed by Worldvision Enterprises, which is currently part of CBS Television Distribution.
Each half-hour program was structured as a compilation of three mini episodes from three different shows, namely George of the Jungle, Tom Slick, and Super Chicken. These segments were voiced by the same actors, including Daws Butler, June Foray, Paul Frees, and Bill Scott.
