A young student at Deimon Private Senior High School becomes involved with the school's American football team despite his timid nature. Known for his exceptional speed and agility, Sena Kobayakawa is recruited by team captain Yoichi Hiruma to join the Deimon Devil Bats as a running back. To conceal his identity from rival teams seeking to recruit him, Sena takes on the public role of team secretary and plays under the alias "Eyeshield 21." During games, he wears a helmet with an eyeshield to prevent others from recognizing him. The series follows his experiences as he contributes to the team while maintaining his secret persona.
