Overview

Encanto is a 2021 American animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The story follows the Madrigals, an extraordinary family living hidden in the mountains of Colombia within a magical house located in a vibrant town called an Encanto. The magic of this place has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift, with the exception of one girl named Mirabel. As the only ordinary member of the Madrigal family, Mirabel eventually discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger. She decides that she might be the last hope for her exceptional family. The film was directed by Jared Bush, Byron Howard, and Charise Castro Smith, with a screenplay written by Bush and Castro Smith. The production features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and an original orchestral score composed by Germaine Franco. The voice cast includes Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, and Mauro Castillo. The film was released in the United States on November 24, 2021.
