Overview
Down and Derby is a 2005 American comedy film that was released as Racing Ace in territories outside of North America. The movie was written and directed by Eric Hendershot and features a cast that includes Greg Germann, Lauren Holly, Adam Hicks, and Pat Morita. The story follows a local Pinewood Derby competition that turns an average group of fathers into overzealous rivals. As these men become desperate to build the winning car, their egos swell to the point where the children involved in the event are fortunate if they are permitted to choose the paint color for their vehicles. While the fathers engage in various acts of sabotage and utilize outlandish gimmicks to gain an advantage, the scouts they are meant to be supporting find themselves underestimated. Ultimately, the children pull together and discover the true meaning of sportsmanship. The film, which is rated PG, has a runtime of one hour and thirty minutes and was released in the United States on April 15, 2005.
