Doña Bella is a Colombian telenovela produced in 2011, airing on Telefutura. The series is a remake of the 1986 Brazilian telenovela Dona Beija and draws inspiration from Brazilian literary works about the historical figure Ana Jacinta de São José. The story centers on Bella Cepeda, a beautiful woman who suffers greatly when she is kidnapped by a powerful businessman intent on making her his concubine. After eventually gaining her freedom and returning to her village, Bella encounters rejection and suspicion from the community, including from her true love. The drama explores themes of class differences, heartbreak, and revenge as Bella confronts those who have wronged her. The show features performances by actors including Zharick León, Fabián Ríos, Marcelo Buquet, and Daniel Arenas. It was produced as a joint effort by Teleset and Televicentro, with direction from José Ignacio Valencia and others.
