The story follows Jiang Cheng, the lead game designer, who is unexpectedly pulled into the world of Ragnarök, a game he created. Inside the virtual world, he is forcibly bound to Su Ye, the final boss who has awakened self awareness. Bound together by a system mandated mission, the creator and his captive must embark on a journey to repair their broken world and stop a virtual apocalypse.
As creator and captive clash at every turn, they battle through bizarre dungeons, encounter mysterious system forces, and face off against rogue players. Along the way, long-buried secrets begin to surface, and the bond between them slowly transforms through suspicion, resistance, and shared danger. All the while, the apocalypse looms ever closer for every player in the game.
