Overview

Day Zero is a post-apocalyptic television series that premiered in 2011. The show is set in the 22nd century, where advancements in science and technology had progressed beyond ethical boundaries, leading much of humanity to reverse course. However, global dictatorships eventually violated the United Nations Bioethics Treaty by secretly stockpiling weapons. This breach led to an attack on an oblivious America, which retaliated with augmented nuclear weaponry. The consequences of this retaliation were unforeseen, affecting most survivors in the Western Hemisphere and transforming many into ravenous beasts. Despite the devastation, pockets of humanity persist. The series was created and developed by filmmaker and actor Cal Nguyen, who also stars in the show alongside Deven Skye, Kenneth Applegate, and Kabrina Miller. It initially aired on platforms such as blip.tv before being broadcast on Tuff TV and other web platforms. Shawn Stevens, known for his role in "Days of Our Lives," joined the cast as Father John, a Carmelite monk aiding in restoring normalcy. The series has been recognized with numerous awards and continued beyond its initial release into subsequent years.
