Date A Live is an anime television series that premiered in 2013. The series is set in a world where a phenomenon called a "spacequake" has devastated the center of Eurasia, claiming the lives of at least 150 million people. Since then, smaller spacequakes have plagued the world on an irregular basis. The series follows Shido Itsuka, a high schooler who is recruited by the organization Ratatoskr to make use of his mysterious ability to seal the powers of the "Spirits," who are the real cause of the spacequakes. To seal a Spirit's power, Shido must make her fall in love with him and kiss him. The series explores the relationships between Shido and the various Spirits he encounters, including Tohka, a Spirit who destroyed the Earth 30 years ago. The series features a blend of action, comedy, and romance elements.
