In Coronation Street season three, episode twenty-five, broadcast on Monday, March 26, 1962, Albert spots Ena through a window, prompting Harry to smash the door down. Ena is found unconscious and is quickly rushed to St Mark's Hospital. However, Martha provides her own name instead of Ena's at the hospital. Consequently, when the residents of the street attempt to locate Ena, they are unable to find her and begin to fear that she has died. Later, Annie discovers that Ena is listed on the danger list. The series follows the ordinary, working-class residents of Coronation Street through their regular social and family interactions at home.
