Overview

Claymore is a Japanese anime television series that aired in 2007. The show follows Clare, a Claymore—a being created from the fusion of human and youma, a type of shapeshifting demon—together with Raki, a boy she saves after his village is attacked by youma. Clare exists as a weapon designed to exterminate these monsters, possessing enhanced physical abilities and the power to sense youma. As Clare and Raki travel from town to town, they face numerous battles against these creatures. The series explores themes of humanity, sacrifice, and coexistence as Clare struggles with her dual nature. Based on the manga written and illustrated by Norihiro Yagi, which began serialization in June 2001, the anime adapts part of the source material’s early story arcs.
