In the eighth episode of the fourth season of Bones, titled The Skull in the Sculpture, Special Agent Seeley Booth and Dr. Temperance Brennan investigate a case involving the smashed remains of a well known artist. The victim is discovered inside an impounded junkyard car, prompting Booth and Brennan to determine whether foul play caused his death.

The investigation uncovers several suspects, ranging from the deceased artist's own assistant to a rival artist. The team at the Jeffersonian faces a race against the clock to find evidence of murder. They must secure this proof before the car is relinquished and placed on public exhibit as the sculptor's ultimate display of self-sacrifice for the sake of his art.

Dr. Temperance Brennan and her colleagues at the Jeffersonian Institute's Medico-Legal Lab assist Special Agent Seeley Booth of the FBI in solving crimes throughout the series. The television drama series, created by Hart Hanson, stars Emily Deschanel as Dr. Temperance Brennan and David Boreanaz as Special Agent Seeley Booth. The main cast also features Michaela Conlin, T.J. Thyne, Eric Millegan, Jonathan Adams, Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, and John Boyd.
