In the television series Bones, Dr. Temperance Brennan and her colleagues at the Jeffersonian Medico-Legal Lab assist special agents, including FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, when other crime-solving methods have failed. Created by Hart Hanson, the crime and drama series features a main cast that includes Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, Michaela Conlin, and T. J. Thyne.

In the episode titled The Truth in the Lye, Booth and Brennan investigate the murder of a man whose body is found in a bathtub full of chemicals. During the course of their investigation, they identify two suspects who share the same motive. As the case progresses, the team soon discovers that the victim had led a complicated personal life involving two wives and a girlfriend.

The series itself focuses on the work of the female forensic anthropologist, Dr. Temperance Brennan, and her team as they examine human remains to solve difficult cases. Every body has secrets, and the Jeffersonian team uses their scientific expertise to uncover them alongside the FBI.
